A very little known fact here, Yours truly was approached about fronting Shooting Gallery prior to BGB. McCoy and Co came to see RR play at the Hippodrome in London and it went from there. It was quite an intimidating expereince as Andi and the rest of the band were stood on the balcony to the left of the stage as you looked off it.
I could feel him boring into me all the way through the set.
It was quite afunny night as The Black Crowes were in Town and Mark Ford came up on stage at the end to do, what he expected was to be, a blues jam or something. We then went into Summer Nights from Grease. He was horrified.
Whether I would have lasted five minutes in S/G is another matter but I decided to stay were I was.It was the right thing to do I think as they were all very intimidating and I was as green as it got.

Interesting stuff Ian.
The absolute and and utter irony of this was that, once Billy left KCD to join Shooting Gallery, our Agent , Adam Parsons, kept trying to get me to join Kill City Dragons. Fuck me! Both KCD and RR where booked by Big Rock Talent.
Apart from the fact I didnt like the people or the band, I was not gonna pass over Andy McCoy for Dave Treguna and Steev von Bleeding Saint. Do me a favour! I was green not stupid.
They finally got some guy called Johnny fron Doncaster. However, he shot through and replaced Howard Johnson in Dawn After Dark. Another blinding career move.

has anyone got the stuff on mp3?
i was supposed to go try out for them back in the day and never made it to the rehearsals....
Probably someone has stuff but normally we like ya to chat a bit and join in.
Here's a teaser, it a Shooting Gallery video I put up a few months back.
YouTube - Shooting Gallery
I liked the song I Don't Want Anything From You but I thought they were way too hyped & wound up dissapointed when the LTEC EP came out or the 12" (I forget which was first).
Not massively into Shooting Gallery but I think there was one decent track on the album - can't recall the name so perhaps it wasn't that good. There was also a pretty dire take on Van Morrison's Brown Eyed Girl which was unwise. Considering Andy McCoy wrote so many brilliant songs for Hanoi & a fair few top quality tunes solo, I think he can be forgiven
The 4 track EP came first - September 1990. The 7 song self-titled came around March 1991 & was just the same EP re-packaged with 3 live songs. The live songs sucked on the whole & so the EP is the better bet - even the intial packaging is far superior.
I was in the fanclub at the time & caught them live a couple of times. 2 or 3 good songs but really just a whole lot of marketing hype. Billy's cowboy boots were about the best thing in the band.
Shit!!! Brandi Lords is back from (or into?) the gutter!!! Great seeing your name again around these parts!!!
Thanks for reminding me of the daft stage name. I'can't seem to recall a Brandi Lords tho.

Nice to be back Carl! IWord reached me that Hud "Sexbomb" Montrose from Edinburgh rock legends Kiss The Bride was posting so I was forced to come out of retirement.
I've since moved to the other side of the world (Singapore) so there's no chance of him kicking my ass if I slag the Bridies too much.
How's life with you?
Hud,
Brandi here is one of the old board members, from a few years ago and was mainly a writer with such 'zines as Neon Starz.
Brandi,
Singapore??? Ya know, that type of thing amazes me. I got all weak-knee'ed when I moved to the town a half hour from where I spent my whole life. Seeing people pick up and move that drstically just blows my mind!
Things have been fine around my life. This being about the extent of my excitement and all, I guess I can't complain...
it'd be nice to have the tunes again..., got the vinyl in storage somewhere like....
amogst about 10,000 other records.
Carl - It can be pretty daunting for sure but the lure of 14% tax rates, huge amounts of hot asian ladies and constant 34 degree temperatures soon puts the fears to rest.
Hud - we've had many a chat regarding the Brides, T-bones taste in women and the dubious merits of the Mansel Storme band at Edies/Gills over the years. I'm Don - that used to go around with fat boy Craig.
I understand the "hot asian ladies" part. But aren't the laws a tad strict over there? Do you speak the language?
Got you now, hope alls well on the other side of the world. What are you up to apart from eyeing up the totty.

<font size="4" face="Arial">Does that mean that somebody on this forum may actually have up to date contact details for the near legendary Raz L. Nickz?Quote:

'Fraid not - Raz seemed to vanish around 1995 and I've no idea whatever became of him.
I've mentioned his name a few times on here in the old days & a few folks knew him (Daz, Andii etc) but no-one seemed to know where he ended up. I never even saw any pictures of him when we was doing Kandy Bang. He's the Lord Lucan of UK glam.
<font size="4" face="Arial">I last heard from him around 1999 / 2000. Andii had an email address but it was an old one. He was back up in Scotland as far as I know. I liked him a lot & he helped my old band out quite a bit. I know he fell out with Dean from Ratpack but I think he was generally well respected.Quote:

Jesus, did I just see a mention of Mansel Storme Band? Top lad Mansel, Loaned Rich Rags his flat for a whole week and didnt some much as raise an eyebrow when me and Johnny B kicked his front door in. Mansels bass player got nicked on a DD and was subsequently hauled off to clink with the flat keys
Id love to know what become of that lot.

At some point during '96, Raz's girlfriend hooked
up with some biker and kicked him out of that
zoo for beleaguered animals he lived in (the
rottweiler eventually ate the german shepherd).
He was - and Tim, don't laugh - The Barbican's
head chef for a while.
Towards the end of the nineties, he drifted back
to Scotland, and during some of his more
darker moments, he'd write Andii letters saying
stuff like: 'If you don't reply to this within 4
days, I'm gonna kill myself.'
And no, he wasn't 'well respected'. He was an
opportunistic, shit-stirring cunt.
The last Andii heard from him was around 2000.
Then again, Andii's disappeared too. I left a
few voice- and emails for him as recently as
a few weeks ago, but, he never calls, he never
writes, etc.
Speaking of which: Ian, we need to talk.

Thanks for that. I was aware that his missus shacked up with a biker cos they booked my next band The Ex-Boyfriends at The Barbican & it all turned nasty when our crowd of 1 showed up! We suddenly found that we had to play 3 sets & then didn't get paid. Our rooms suddenly were unavailable & we practically got chased out the venue!
I heard from Raz briefly when he was in Scotland living with his Dad but that was 6yrs ago. He was always alright by me but I know different people see different sides of each other. I think a couple of the characters that I knew (Jay Silk, Andi Chase etc) weren't to everyone's taste (tactful?) & there were always horror stories about loads of individuals. I think I came out of it as one of the few people with no real enemies to speak of! ha! ha!
Band v. band bollox is never here nor there really.
Someone like Raz, though, feeling bitter about not
being able to get into a band in the first place, is
something else, something forever slightly vengeful.
Maybe he did 'make it' though? Maybe he's now some
sort of myspace goddess with a trillion 'friends'?
I hope so.
